Kravetz fired a career-high 13 strikeouts in 7.0 innings, tying for the highest strikeou  t total by a C-USA pitcher this season, on the way to a victory over visiting Middle Tennessee on April 19.  Kravetz picked up his third win of the season by allowing just one hit and scattering three walks in 7.0 shutout frames.  The left-hander from Miami, Florida, held all opposing hitters to a composite .043 batting average.  His 13 strikeouts were the most by a Rice pitcher in a single game since 2016.  Collegiate Baseball also named Kravetz as one its National Players of the Week following his performance last Friday.

Patel tossed his seventh-consecutive quality start in Thursday’s series-opening win at UAB, carrying a no-hitter into the sixth inning.  He recorded 12 of his 18 outs by way of a strikeout, allowing just two hits. The 12 strikeouts are a career best for Patel and one shy of the single game high C-USA this season.  He also moved up to sixth place in career strikeouts at UTSA with 215.

Montes had three multi-hit outings, and an RBI in all four games, during a 3-1 road week for the Owls.  He batted .462 (6-for-13), with six RBI, two home runs and two runs scored.  In the team’s midweek win at UCF, Montes had two sacrifice flies, the second going as the game-winning RBI.  The senior from Stockton, California, began the series against WKU with a 2-for-3 night in the opener, with another sac fly and RBI.  Montes hit a home run in the middle matchup, as part of another 2-for-3 night, and added another homer in the finale.  In the series clincher, he was 2-for-5, walked once, scored once, and had two RBI, including a key go-ahead single late.
