DALLAS – After registering double-digit strikeouts for the third straight game, fanning 11 Seton Hall batters and allowing just one hit and one walk in seven shutout innings, FIU sophomore LHP Logan Allen has been named the C-USA Pitcher of the Week. Marshall senior outfielder Shane Hanon exploded for seven extra-base hits, seven RBI and eight runs scored in four Thundering Herd victories last week to earn the C-USA Hitter of the Week award for games ending March 10. All Conference USA weekly awards are presented by Top of the World. March 11 2019 POW Release Allen reached double-digit strikeouts for the third consecutive game, fanning 11 Seton Hall batters in a 1-0 shutout victory last Friday night. The Deltona, Florida, native allowed just one hit and one walk in seven innings, facing one batter over the minimum. In four starts this season, Allen has a 1.57 ERA with just nine hits allowed and 42 strikeouts in 23.0 innings pitched (16.4 K’s-per-nine-innings). Collegiate Baseball also named him one of its Louisville Slugger National Players of the Week on Monday. Hanon was one of the main cogs in an offensive explosion for the Thundering Herd this weekend as it swept two doubleheaders against Eastern Michigan. The Gig Harbor, Washington, native garnered 11 hits in 17 at-bats for a .647 batting average in four games to with a .684 on-base percentage and a 1.353 slugging percentage. Seven of Hanon’s 11 hits were for extra bases, including two home runs, four doubles and a triple. In game three of the series, Hanon went six-for-six at the plate and hit for the cycle. He also drew a walk in his other plate appearance for the game to reach base all seven times in his seven plate appearances.
